A significant event will be taking place in South East London on Thursday 17th July 2019 and 240FLM will be taking a leading role following an invitation from the senior management of the London Fire Brigade.
50 years ago on that date, a terrible tragedy took place when 5 London Firemen lost their lives along with an industrial employee when a large volume oil tank exploded at Dudgeons Wharf on the Isle of Dogs which today, is not far from the modern site of Canary Wharf.
The event marked the largest loss of life the London Fire Brigade had suffered since world war 2, and remains as such.
This year, our appliance which is the last surviving of the 5 Turntable Ladders used at the Brigade funeral 12 days later, will be used to transport the Bishop of London to the venue which is located at the end of Sextant Avenue, Isle of Dogs, London E14 3DX and which will commence at 11.30 hrs.
240FLM will once again be in attendance at the Weeting Steam rally which takes place over the period of 19th 20th & 21st July 2019 at Weeting in Norfolk, opening hours are 10.00 until 1600. Details of the event can be found here:www.facebook.com/events/518196535352535/
Going straight from Weeting, the following weekend 240FLM will be found at the Bressingham Fire Rally which takes place on the weekend of 27th & 28th July 2019 and as last year, 240FLM will be playing a very active part in the operational demonstrations.
